Hey Tom,
Sorry about the pun there, I couldn't help it, it just happened. Anyway, I was thinking about your project this morning as I am packing up myself and I was wondering if any of the mosses, lichen, etc. that are being surveyed in the 102 plots can be found in our part of the world (VT or NH)? I just thought that might be an interesting way to connect your project to my classroom next year.

Thanks,
Amy

Amy,

Yes--absolutely. They are fairly common moss types they just grow a little more exuberantly in the arctic. The most common one that I'm sure you have seen while walking in the wood is sphagnum--we have the same kind in Alaska that is in NH VT.

Also I am working on a mini-pictorial of all the plants and mosses that I have been working with. Donie's husband will have to put up with a lot of questions but I think he will do it smile.gif

Tom

PS--if you ever feel like I've forgotten to send you something--just remind me:)
