No, I'm not really in the area where there are any polar bears. That would be a good bit north of here.

Tom is correct, polar bears generally live further north than Toolik Field Station. But a hungry skinny young polar bear did make it as far south as Toolik a few years ago. It walked about 150 miles inland from the northern coast where the bears normallly live. Here are links to a few pictures from the ARCUS Internet Media Archive. The pictures have a watermark on them at the request of the photographer so people will not publish them without his permission.
