Hi, Mahina again! I am currently a middle schooler (still), and I have another question.
I read that you used ablation stakes to measure how glaciers have skrinken or grown, how exactly do these devices work?
Thank you.

Hey Mahina,
Great question!!! Ablation stakes are 6 meter aluminium poles that are drilled into the glacier at various points along the glacier. The height the pole sticks out of the glacier is measured each time you go to the stake. If you went to the pole last week and the pole stuck out of the ice 85 cm and when you visited it this week and it stuck out of the ice 100 cm your glacier would be melting. Hope this answers your question.
