How does the geese know where to "grub" into the ground for food?

Hi Lorraine,

Well, there are usually some dead plant parts from the previous year's growth above ground (like dead grass!). They grub underground in these spots to get the roots that are still alive and are a good source of food.

They might just do some "exploratory" grubbing too, looking for anything that might be underground. smile.gif

Good question!
