Why did you find a soccer ball? Was there people around the area? If so, does that effect the birds in the area that you are trying to watch?

Hi Anna,
Someone saw the soccer ball on the edge of the tundra near the water as we were helicoptering to the Piasuk delta from our campsite. So, on the way back, they stopped and picked it up! There was no cabin around, so how did it get there? Maybe it washed up during a storm from the water. Maybe it got in the water by falling out of someone's boat, or maybe it floated there from a village on the North Slope or farther! Who knows? Too bad there was no name on it. The snow geese stayed far away from us when we were doing our vegetation sampling in July. We could not get very close to them. So, that might be why they choose to go to this area, no people around! Good questions, Ms Pierce |
