Description: Halos are a common sight in the arctic. They look like a rainbow circling the sun. They are formed when sunlight is bent as it travels through ice crystals in the atmosphere. Here is a picture of the bottom part of the halo. Our lab tent is the building on the left side of this picture.

Description: This isn't the greatest picture but it shows frost that formed on my sleeping bag from the water vapor in my breath. The temperature dipped down to -36 degrees Celsius on the night this picture was taken.
