Mrs. Barlow,
I hope everything is going well in the Bering Sea. So far, what is the most intresting thing you have seen, learned, or done on your trip?

Hi Keri,
Thanks for posting a question. The most interesting thing that I have done so far is, without a doubt, the helicopter ride I took to the Siberian Yupik village of Gambell on St. Lawrence Island. It was my first helo ride ever. The views of ocean, ice, and the island were spectacular, even on a cloudy grey day. I was also thrilled to meet a student and teacher from Gambell that I have been emailing. I was given a quick tour of the village and I saw the school, the walrus skin boats that are used for whaling, and even a polar bear hide. It was the experience of a lifetime. Hopefully, the journal describing my trip will be posted soon. It has had to go through a strenuous editing process. Keep checking back though, because there are photos of the island from the helo as well as the student and the walrus skin boats.
Thanks, again,
Mrs. Barlow
