biggrin.gif Just hearing about all the snow that you seemed to be anticipating made me happy. How you described the season changing from fall to winter quickly seemed pretty neat. I was wondering if there was a large temperature drop because it was already pretty cold. I know that we have deiscussed that there are not a ton of organisms or plant life around the artic, but do any have to move out of certain areas when the winter comes? wink.gif Anyway I think that is neat how abruptly the seasons change. Well I was wondering if you could give me some more details on how the seasons changed so quickly. Thanks for your time.

Hi Fabby,

The summer is short up in the arctic. The animals have adapted to this. Birds arrive, lay eggs, the eggs hatch and the young fledge quickly. The reindeer migrate and the polar bears move off the pack ice. A lot of these organisms are in tune with the light. As soon as the intensity of the light starts to wane the plants and animals start to react. Once it gets dark, the days get short very quickly. Thanks for the questions.
