Hi Leslie!
Barrow has been rainy for the past day or so. How about the Ikpikpuk?

Interesting that there are no squirrels around. Do you and Brian think it is primarily because of the bear or perhaps the flood contributed?

Does hatching success for snow geese look high this year?

Have the mosquitos been bad yet? Good luck!!
Robert

Hi Robert,

It rained here one day, but the rest have been pretty nice! The arctic ground squirrel burrow is high and dry, and there is evidence of a bear digging in the holes. So, it looks like the bear got the little squirrel. Seems like it expended a lot of energy digging for such a small meal.

According to the ABR biologists, they say it is not as good as previous years, but still good. They won't know until they analyze their data.

And, mosquitoes are not too bad. Yet!

Thanks for writing. I'll see you soon!
