Amy,
Your pictures are great! I am thrilled that you have the opportunity to go to Alaska! I want to see your pictures when you return. When did you leave for Alaska? When will you be returning? Have you and Max found any interesting data? Take care of yourself and don't run into any moose! Melis |

Hey Melissa,
Thanks for the note and I’m glad you are enjoying the pictures!! It has been a great trip to both Alaska and Canada, although I will say that it is tough sometimes trying to get to know the people in these small villages—it just takes a lot of work but I feel as though we have made some headway in each of the small villages we have been in. As far as data is concerned, we are basically just collecting data, not really analyzing any of it. Although some of the data from samples taken in the last few years have shown that each of the 6 arctic rivers has very distinct water. I can tell that just from looking, as the water in the Yukon and Mackenzie rivers have a lot more sediment that the Lena river in Siberia had last year. However, chemically, they are all very different too. I haven’t seen any moose yet, but did come too close for comfort with a bear while in Anchorage. Take care, Amy |
