Hi Melissa,
Alaska is the biggest state in the US - Almost twice the size of TX. It covers a territory reaching from about 53 N to about 74 N. ( Arctic Circle at 66. 5N ). So the weather is different. Check for yourself.

You see temperatures fluctuate widely. In Fairbanks average summer temperatures are around 65-75 F. Barrow, AK the north most point is different. Temperatures stay below 50F.
The Arctic can be defined as the area where average temperature for the warmest month of the year (July) is below 10°C (50°F). cool.gif
