Mrs. Nikula
There was fighting in WWII between the Russians and the Japanese in 1945. Do you think it likely that you will see any evidence of battles, and if so, wuld you be in a position to find out about them? If you do find any fighting areas, be careful: both Japanese and Russian explosives of that era only exploded 60% of the time.

Thanks for the warning! I am certain that will be careful. I know that a couple of years ago, when the scientists did some preliminary investigations they found what they thought were the sites of old houses. Turns out, they were overgrown old Japanese WWI bunkers! If we come across any more (or these) I will take some pictures to show you and see what we can find out about them.
