How long was the process of the experiment? It seems like it would be a cool project to do for the whole class or for a science fair project.

Hi Meryl,

It would be great to do for a class project or science fair project. This project is just beginning and the scientist, Brian Person, hopes that it will continue for years to come, if not decades. The longer the data collection continues the more the scientists can learn about the interaction of the snow geese with the vegetation in their habitat.

I spent 8 days helping Brian collect data this summer. In the future, Brian hopes to go out several times, once early in the season and once later. This year flooding on the Ikpikpuk River delta prevented him from going out early to collect data. Maybe he will be successful next summer.

If you are interested in a project like this we could figure something out that could be done right around Barrow. And, since you are a sophomore, you would have three years to collect data! That would make a great science project!
