Arctic Synthesis Collaboratory eTown Meeting
The Arctic Collaboratory Committee invited members of the research community to participate in an open eTown Meeting which sought community input for developing an Arctic Synthesis Collaboratory—a concept arising from a 2007 workshop and other discussions in the arctic research community. The Collaboratory concept is an "umbrella" framework that fosters interactions among arctic scientists and other stakeholders; integrates data analysis and modeling; develops outreach, education, and policy-relevant resouces; and provides training and professional development. Services could be established virtually and also could take advantage of existing facilities. The Collaboratory would serve as a partnership-building mechanism across the many communities served. This eTown Meeting focused on community needs and organizational and implementation issues.
In addition to this eTown Meeting, an AGU Town Hall Meeting was scheduled at the Fall 2007 AGU Meeting in San Francisco, California to provide another venue for community input on development of an Arctic Synthesis Collaboratory. All were invited to attend. See additional information below for further details.
